A delegation from the Taliban, led by Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, embarked on a trip to Russia on Monday to participate in the Moscow Format meeting.
The Moscow Format meeting, scheduled to take place in the Russian city of Kazan later this week, will bring together Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, including Iran, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, along with several other nations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Sunday that the upcoming Moscow Format meeting will center on discussions regarding strategies to address the challenges confronting Afghanistan.
Lavrov emphasized that the meeting will delve into potential actions that neighboring countries can undertake to address the issues facing Afghanistan.
Among the primary concerns expressed by Afghan citizens are poverty, limited access to education, and restrictions on the rights and opportunities of girls and women.
