At least six killed in Taiwan blast, three still missing

A search operation was underway on Saturday morning for three missing people after a fire and explosions at a factory in southern Taiwan killed at least six, authorities said.

A witness said the force of the explosion at the golf factory late on Friday propelled him forward.

“It was very serious, it was swinging as if something was pushing me forward,” said a security guard of the factory who witnessed the blast.

“I was at the security office writing some documents when the heard the blast I saw white smoke, and around six, seven people’s hands were bleeding. Before that, there was another blast inside. Some people were cut by shattered glass,” he added.

Taiwan’s fire department said four of its members were among the dead. Over 100 people were injured.

The cause of the fire and subsequent explosions were underway, local media reported
