Clashes reported between Taliban, Pakistani forces in Torkham crossing; 4 reportedly killed

Sources in Nangarhar province report clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces in Torkham crossing on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

At least four children from Afghanistan were killed following clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces in the Torkham crossing on Wednesday, said a source from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the source, four Pakistani nationals were wounded in the clashes.

Footage shows people rushing to leave the Torkham crossing as gunfire was heard.

According to sources, the clashes started after Taliban attempted to build security outposts near the border.

Taliban’s Ministry of Interior in a statement confirmed the clash between Pakistani forces and the Taliban at the Torkham crossing, saying it happened at “Torkham Township” in Momand Dara district of Nangarhar province. The ministry claimed that the clash was “initiated by Pakistani forces” and was responded to by the Taliban.
