Afghanistan’s taekwondo star Ali Akbar Amiri has etched his name in history after winning gold in the 87kg category at the South Korea Open Taekwondo Championships this week.
Amiri’s triumph is a testament to his skill and determination as he emerged victorious against competitors from various nations including Canada, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Nigeria.
This victory also holds profound significance for Afghanistan as it marks the country’s first medal ever at the South Korea Open Taekwondo Championships.
The South Korea Open Taekwondo Championships, a gathering of sporting excellence, attracted a formidable contingent of approximately 3,000 athletes hailing from 60 countries across the globe.
