Women showcase artisanal products at Jawzjan exhibition

An exhibition in Shaberghan city has brought to light the artistic prowess and entrepreneurial spirit of women in Jawzjan province. With a display of exquisite handmade products, the event showcased the talents of women from 20 villages in the province, aimed at promoting and marketing their agricultural products.

The organizer of the exhibition emphasized its significance in bolstering the local economy and empowering families across Jawzjan.

Moqaddas, a skilled artisan from Yaka Bagh village, exhibited the creations of her sewing workshop at the event, expressing her ambition to elevate her craft through this platform.

In a region where agriculture holds paramount importance for women and farmers, the exhibition has become a pivotal opportunity to explore new consumer markets for their handicrafts and agricultural produce. Boasting 30 booths, the event radiated the determination of these entrepreneurial women to achieve economic independence and create sustainable sources of income.

“The dedication of these women as breadwinners for their families is truly inspiring, and they earnestly seek support from the Taliban to advance women’s rights and educational opportunities,” remarked Farida, a participant at the exhibition.

Sadia, another enthusiastic participant, noted the resilience of female students who turned to small businesses after the closure of schools and universities for girls and women. This exhibition signifies the incredible resilience and adaptability displayed by these enterprising women in the face of challenges.

“After the closure of schools and universities for girls and women, many female students turned to small businesses and are engaged in business,” said Sadia.

The exhibition is held at a time as a number of women have resorted to small businesses, including handicrafts, tailoring, and others, amidst the closure of schools and universities for women and girls in the country.
