11 killed in suspected arson attack on northern Mexican bar

Eleven people were killed in a suspected arson attack on a bar in the northern Mexican border city of San Luis Rio Colorado, according to authorities in the state of Sonora. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when a young male, who had been expelled from the bar for being disrespectful to women, allegedly set it ablaze with a Molotov cocktail.

The Sonora state prosecutors reported that the suspect was highly intoxicated at the time of the attack. After being thrown out of the bar, he returned and threw a Molotov cocktail at its doors, causing the devastating blaze. The state shares a long border with Arizona.

Among the victims, four were women. Four others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.

City Mayor Santos Gonzalez confirmed that the male suspect has been arrested by the police in connection with the deadly incident.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the tragic event to gather further details on the suspect’s motive and any additional factors that may have contributed to the deadly outcome.
