Afghanistan: People unite in celebrating Eid, pray for brighter days amidst hardships

Despite economic challenges and other issues plaguing the nation, people from various parts of the country came together to celebrate the first day of Eid, offering prayers for a brighter future for Afghanistan.

Eid al-Adha served as a welcome respite for the people of Afghanistan, allowing them to briefly escape their hardships and enjoy the festivities. For instance, residents of Kunar province in the eastern region flocked to an amusement park in Asadabad city, the province’s center, to mark the beginning of Eid.

“Compared to previous Eids, we’ve seen a larger turnout today because this recreational spot has undergone significant improvements,” shared Huzaifa, a resident of Kunar.

“People from remote areas have come to visit. We urge the relevant authorities to further develop this place,” added Hamza, another resident of Kunar.

The area was brimming with children, who expressed their excitement about Eid. Ajmal, a young resident of Kunar, exclaimed, “I had a fantastic time here. It was an enjoyable experience.”

Raihanullah, another resident of Kunar, expressed his joy, stating, “The park has well-maintained grounds and a wide array of amusement equipment. Happiness permeates the air here.”

The celebration of Eid comes at a time when Afghanistan has endured two arduous years in terms of its economy.
