Afghanistan: 24 people dead in traffic accident in Sar-e-Pul

Twenty-four people, including women and children, were killed in a minibus rollover in a remote area in Sayad district of the northern province of Sar-e-Pul on Wednesday afternoon, Taliban’s provincial authorities said.

The Toyota minibus had 25 passengers. One woman was injured in the incident that happened at around 2pm Afghanistan time on a dusty road near Alato village in Sayyad district. The vehicle was traveling to Khwaja Yagana village on the other side of the remote northern district.

The victims include 12 women, eight children and four men, according to local media reports.

The cause of the incident is said to be carelessness by the driver and damaged roads.
