A helicopter carrying Iran’s sports minister Hamid Sajjadi and at least 18 people crashed in south-central Iran on Thursday, killing two people and causing Sajjadi to suffer head injuries, Iran’s state media reported.

IRNA reported the helicopter, carrying Sajjadi and his accompanying delegation, crashed while landing in a stadium in the city of Baft on Thursday afternoon.

Two people were killed, including Esmaeil Ahmadi, an aide to the minister, and 16 others were injured.

Local health officials told IRNA Sajjadi sustained head injuries which have led to a cerebral hemorrhage. He has been taken to a hospital in Sirjan.

The cause of the crash is being investigated, Kerman’s provincial governor, Mohammad-Mehdi Fadakar, said.
