Three children were killed and eight others injured in overnight airstrikes “on residential homes” in southeastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, local sources told Amu TV on Thursday.
The strikes reportedly targeted several houses in the Sur Kakh area of Spera district. Among the wounded was at least one woman, according to sources familiar with the incident.
The origin of the airstrikes remains unclear.
On the same night, two additional airstrikes targeted a house in neighboring Nangarhar province, injuring four people, the sources said.
Though responsibility for the latest attacks has not been confirmed, Pakistan has previously carried out airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan, particularly in border areas. In December 2024, Pakistani forces launched air raids on parts of Barmal district in Paktika province, claiming to target militant hideouts. Taliban said at the time that 46 people were killed in the airstrikes, which targeted Waziristani migrants in the area.
