ISLAMABAD — Pakistan on Sunday condemned U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling them a violation of international law and warning that the escalation of hostilities could have far-reaching consequences for the region and beyond.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad said it was “gravely concerned” by the latest U.S. action, which followed a series of Israeli strikes on Iran, and warned that any further escalation could lead to “severely damaging implications.”
“These attacks violate all norms of international law,” the statement said, adding that Iran has the “legitimate right” to defend itself under the United Nations Charter.
The Foreign Ministry described the situation as one of “unprecedented escalation of tension and violence,” and called for an immediate halt to hostilities. It emphasized the need to protect civilian lives and property and urged all parties to respect international humanitarian law.
“Recourse to dialogue, diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, remain the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region,” the statement said.
