Over the past week, Russia has become the third country to improve its diplomatic relations with the Taliban.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Russia has accepted their nominee for ambassador in Moscow.
Earlier this week, Pakistan also declared that it would upgrade its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan to the ambassadorial level, and the United Arab Emirates accepted the credentials of the Taliban’s Consul General in Dubai.
Nevertheless, nearly four years into the Taliban’s rule, no country has formally recognized their government.
