OBERHAUSEN — Aryana Sayeed, the Afghan pop star and women’s rights advocate, received two honors at the Daf Bama Music Awards, held Saturday in the German city of Oberhausen.
Sayeed was awarded the festival’s Humanitarian Award and was named Best Afghan Artist. The annual international event, which celebrates multicultural music and artists with global impact, brought together performers from across the world.
Accepting the honors, Sayeed dedicated the awards to the women of Afghanistan, emphasizing their resilience in the face of mounting restrictions under Taliban rule.
“Afghan women will not be silenced,” she said. “The Taliban cannot suppress our voices, and the world must not remain indifferent to the injustices they face.”
The Daf Bama Awards are recognized as one of Europe’s leading multicultural music events, honoring artists who combine artistic achievement with advocacy for human rights.
In a post on Instagram, Sayeed expressed gratitude for the recognition. “Receiving not only the Best Afghan Artist award but also the Humanity Bama Award is an honor I will cherish for years to come,” she wrote.
