Aid trucks wait at Kerem Shalom as Gaza access remains limited

KEREM SHALOM — Dozens of trucks loaded with humanitarian supplies waited at the Kerem Shalom border crossing on Thursday, as aid efforts for the Gaza Strip faced continued logistical hurdles.

The shipments, which included wheat flour, cooking oil and assorted canned goods, were assembled at a secured compound before being loaded onto vehicles designated to deliver aid into the besieged enclave.

On Wednesday, the Israeli military said it had permitted 100 trucks carrying flour, infant formula and medical supplies to enter Gaza. But United Nations officials said that distribution challenges on the ground had prevented the aid from reaching those in need.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel said the government would consider a temporary cease-fire to facilitate the release of hostages held by Hamas. Barring such a deal, he said, Israel would continue its military operations aimed at asserting full control over Gaza.
