A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of northeastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, shaking areas near Kabul and across neighboring countries, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The quake was recorded at a depth of about 75 kilometers (47 miles), with its epicenter located roughly 190 kilometers northeast of Kabul. Tremors were felt across parts of Pakistan, India, and Tajikistan, including cities such as Islamabad, Srinagar, and Dushanbe.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.
The Hindu Kush region is one of the most seismically active areas in the world, situated near the boundary of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
