The Pakistani military said eight members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed and four others wounded during a clash in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement issued Sunday, the army said the fighting took place Saturday night in North Waziristan.

The militants—referred to in the statement as “Khawarij,” a term historically used to describe militants, specifically TTP members—were reportedly involved in planning militant activity.

The military once again called on the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan to take action against militant groups, echoing Pakistan’s longstanding concerns about the presence of TTP elements in the region.

Taliban have consistently denied those allegations, maintaining that the TTP issue is an internal matter for Pakistan and not linked to Afghanistan.

Tensions between the two sides have escalated in recent months, with Pakistan accusing the Taliban of inaction against militants operating in or around its territory—claims the Taliban leadership has rejected.
