Taliban launch construction of transportation terminal near Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban officials on Sunday inaugurated construction on a large transportation terminal in the Arghandi area on the outskirts of Kabul, a project they say is being funded through private investment and is expected to be completed within two years.

The initiative was formally launched on Sunday in a ceremony attended by senior Taliban officials, including Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s deputy prime minister for economic affairs.

Baradar said the terminal is part of a broader infrastructure push that includes 42 additional projects currently under consideration.

According to Taliban officials, the terminal will be built on a 900-jerib (approximately 180-hectare) site and is projected to cost more than 1.2 billion Afghanis, or roughly $16 million at current exchange rates.

They added that the new terminal is intended to ease traffic congestion in Kabul and reduce transportation costs for travelers and businesses.
