BANGKOK — Afghanistan’s national beach soccer team is set to face Iran on Sunday in the group stage of the 2025 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup, currently underway in Thailand.
The Afghanistan Football Federation said the match would take place at 4 p.m. local time (Kabul time), 12:30pm CET, as part of Group B play, which also includes the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
Afghanistan enters the match after a high-scoring 10-7 defeat to the United Arab Emirates in its opening game of the tournament.
The competition, hosted by Thailand, features top teams from across Asia and serves as a qualifying event for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Afghanistan is looking to recover from its initial loss and improve its standing in a challenging group that includes two regional powerhouses — Iran and the U.A.E.
