TEHRAN — Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday dismissed claims of tightened visa restrictions for Afghan citizens, insisting that the process is being regulated, not restricted.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said the policy aims to streamline visa issuance rather than impose new limitations.
“The dignity of the Afghan people and respect for them have always been fundamental principles for us in granting visas,” Baghaei said.
He also cautioned against fraud and misuse, urging applicants to apply through official embassy channels to avoid unauthorized intermediaries.
His remarks follow growing complaints from Afghan migrants, who report stricter procedures and increased difficulties in securing Iranian visas.
