ISLAMABAD—Two Pakistani soldiers and nine militants were killed in separate clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the confrontations took place on Friday and Saturday in the Mohmand and Dera Ismail Khan districts.

In the first operation, security forces conducted an intelligence-based raid in Mohmand district, where they engaged militants and killed seven. However, during the exchange of fire, Havildar Muhammad Zahid, 37, from Malakand, and Sepoy Aftab Ali Shah, 26, from Chitral, were killed, the military said.

A second encounter occurred in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan, where troops clashed with militants, killing two. The military reported that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple attacks.

The ISPR stated that sanitization operations were ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. “The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
