Iran shuts down eight businesses for employing Afghan migrants

TEHRAN — Authorities in Iran’s Kerman province have shut down eight businesses in the city of Fahraj for employing Afghan migrants, as the country intensifies restrictions on foreign workers.

According to the IRIB News Agency, Amirhossein Behjati, head of the judicial authority in Fahraj, said the closures were part of a broader monitoring and regulation plan aimed at controlling pricing practices and preventing businesses from hiring Afghan migrants.

Behjati stated that inspections would continue regularly to ensure that Afghan migrants are neither employed nor renting commercial spaces. He also urged Iranian citizens to report violations, warning that legal action would be taken against offenders.

The crackdown comes amid growing complaints from Afghan migrants, who say they are facing increasing restrictions on work, housing, and movement in Iran.
