Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan — A bomb exploded near the Kifayat Exchange Market in the center of Mazar-e-Sharif City in the northern province of Balkh on Wednesday morning, injuring at least three people, local sources said.

The explosion, which occurred around 11 a.m. Kabul time, was caused by a magnetic bomb attached to a vehicle, sources told Amu TV.

Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

The incident comes amid a surge in bombings, suicide attacks, and armed clashes in recent days, particularly in northern Afghanistan. Anti-Taliban resistance groups have also intensified their operations across the country.

In a suicide bombing in Kunduz on February 11, at least 25 people were killed and 30 more were wounded. Another suicide bombing happened in Kabul outside the ministry of rural development on Feb. 13, killing at least one person.
