Pakistan frees 26 Afghan migrants amid ongoing deportations

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that 26 migrants have been released from Pakistani prisons over the past two days and have returned to Afghanistan.

In a statement, the ministry said the migrants had been detained in various parts of Pakistan for lacking legal residency documents and had spent two to three months in prison before their release.

According to figures compiled by Amu TV from official Taliban reports, at least 409 Afghan nationals have been released from Pakistani prisons and repatriated over the past three weeks.

Meanwhile, Afghan migrants in Pakistan and Iran have accused local authorities of mistreatment, saying they face harsh treatment and discrimination by law enforcement in both countries.

Pakistan has been conducting mass deportations of Afghan migrants for over a year, with thousands expelled for lacking proper documentation. Iran has also escalated deportations in recent months, intensifying concerns among Afghan refugee communities.
