Mumbai Indians have signed Afghanistan’s off-spinner Mujeeb Rahman as a replacement for the injured Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Ghazanfar, an 18-year-old off-spinner, was signed by Mumbai Indians for ₹4.80 crore ($552,800) in the IPL mega auction but has been ruled out of the season due to injury. Mujeeb, a seasoned T20 specialist, joins the franchise for ₹2 crore ($230,500).
The 23-year-old off-spinner has played 19 IPL matches, taking 19 wickets. One of Afghanistan’s most promising cricketers, Mujeeb made his IPL debut at just 17 after making an immediate impact on the international stage.
With experience in over 300 T20 matches across international and domestic circuits, he has taken 330 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of around 6.5.
