KABUL, Afghanistan — Iran and Pakistan expelled 449 Afghan migrant families last week, according to data compiled by Amu TV from Taliban statements.

The data shows that from Feb. 8 to Feb. 15, Iran deported 335 families, while Pakistan expelled 114. Some families reportedly returned voluntarily.

The figures account for only five days of the week, as the Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency did not publish data on Tuesday or Thursday.

Among those returning, 52 families crossed into Afghanistan via the Torkham border, while 62 entered through Spin Boldak. Another 153 families returned through the Pul-e-Abrisham border in Nimroz, and 182 families arrived via the Islam Qala border.

The latest deportations follow a similar trend from the previous week, when Iran and Pakistan expelled 648 Afghan migrant families between Feb. 2 and Feb. 8.

Afghan migrants in both countries have reported intensified crackdowns by local security forces, saying they have faced arrests and mistreatment.
