KABUL, Afghanistan — The Afghanistan Football Federation announced on Wednesday that it has extended the contract of Majid Mortazavi, the head coach of the national futsal team, for another year.
Mortazavi, an Iranian national, led the team to a historic milestone last year, securing Afghanistan’s first-ever qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
Under his leadership, the Afghan futsal team is set to compete in several international tournaments this year, including events in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, as well as a four-nation tournament in Brazil.
The contract extension comes as Afghanistan looks to build on its recent success and strengthen its standing in the sport.
