LAGHMAN, Afghanistan — A traffic accident in Laghman province left one person dead and three others injured, including a woman and two children, local Taliban officials said.
Younas Yousafzai, a spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Laghman, said the crash occurred when a Suzuki Alto veered off the road and struck an electricity pole in the village of Masha Khelo, Qarghayi district.
The injured were taken to the provincial hospital in Mehtarlam, where their condition was reported as stable.
Taliban authorities said they are investigating the cause of the accident, though high speed and loss of vehicle control are believed to be contributing factors.
This comes as Taliban-run traffic department reported over 4,000 traffic accidents in the country in the last 10 months.
