Taliban suspend salaries for Faryab University staff: Sources

Faryab University

MAIMANA, Afghanistan — Taliban have suspended salary payments for instructors and employees of Faryab University until “further notice,” according to local sources.

A university source told Amu that Taliban officials communicated the decision verbally last week via administrative WhatsApp groups used by the university.

“Salary payments were scheduled to begin on the 25th of the solar month, but more than 10 days have passed, and the process has not yet started,” the source said.

Taliban have not issued any public comment, and the reason for the suspension remains unclear.

The suspension of salaries is likely to add to the difficulties faced by university staff, who have already been navigating economic uncertainty under Taliban rule.
