Two killed in traffic accident in Badghis

BADGHIS, Afghanistan — A man and a woman were killed in a traffic accident in Badghis Province on Wednesday, according to Taliban officials.

One other person was injured in the crash, which occurred in the Laman area of Qala-e-Naw, the provincial capital, when a Corolla-model vehicle veered off the road and overturned.

Driver negligence was cited as the cause of the accident.

Afghanistan has seen a rise in traffic accidents in recent weeks as winter weather has left roads covered in snow and ice, creating hazardous driving conditions.
