Hazara party leader in Pakistan injured in robbery attempt at his home

QUETTA, Pakistan — Abdul Khaliq Hazara, the president of the Hazara Democratic Party and a former minister in Balochistan, was injured in a robbery attempt at his home in Quetta on Friday, according to local authorities.

The police reported that the suspect, who is believed to be a neighbor of Mr. Hazara, has been arrested. A spokesperson for the Hazara Democratic Party said Mr. Hazara sustained injuries during a scuffle with the alleged robber.

“During the robbery attempt, our party chief was injured while trying to fend off the assailant,” the spokesperson said.

Mr. Hazara’s condition and the extent of his injuries were not immediately disclosed. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Quetta, a city frequently grappling with crime and violence.

Pakistani authorities said they are continuing their investigation into the attack.
