Local sources in Badghis Province reported on Thursday that Taliban authorities in Qadis District have implemented restrictions on nighttime movement.
According to a letter obtained by Amu, residents have been instructed not to travel in villages or markets after 9 p.m. unless they have a “legitimate religious excuse.”
The directive was issued jointly by the Taliban district governor’s office, the Taliban police command, and the Taliban’s intelligence agency in Qadis.
The curfew comes after unidentified individuals reportedly threw a grenade at the Taliban district governor’s office in Qadis a few nights ago before fleeing the scene. The Taliban have not released details about the incident or identified the perpetrators.
The move highlights a contrast with the Taliban’s frequent assertions of having established complete security across Afghanistan. While Taliban have consistently claimed there are no armed groups capable of threatening public safety, this latest measure suggests lingering vulnerabilities in some areas.
