HERAT, Afghanistan — A transit shipment from China, carrying 1,000 tons of steel coils, arrived at Rozanak station in Herat province on Friday, the Taliban-run Ministry of Transport announced.
The shipment was transported via Iran’s Bandar Abbas port and delivered to Afghanistan through Iran’s rail network, marking a significant step in strengthening Afghanistan’s transit connections, the ministry said.
Describing the development as a “major milestone,” the ministry highlighted its importance in linking Afghanistan to open waters and boosting regional trade.
The ministry also emphasized that the completion of the Khaf-Herat railway project will unlock new economic opportunities for Afghanistan, enhancing trade and transit potential across the region.
