KABUL, Afghanistan — Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS), the country’s power distributor, announced Sunday that technical issues disrupting electricity imports from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have been resolved, restoring normal power supply to affected provinces.

In a statement, DABS said the provinces now receiving electricity at regular levels include Balkh, Samangan, Parwan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktia, Logar, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, and Baghlan.

The disruptions, caused by strong winds, had temporarily suspended power imports from the two neighboring countries, plunging several provinces into darkness.

The announcement follows mounting complaints from Kabul residents and others across the country about prolonged power outages. Many reported enduring extended blackouts both day and night, expressing frustration over the lack of reliable electricity.

While DABS said the issues have been resolved, the outages highlight the challenges Afghanistan faces in maintaining its energy infrastructure, which relies heavily on imports from neighboring nations.
