DUBAI — Afghanistan’s Under-19 cricket team suffered a 45-run defeat against Bangladesh on Friday in their opening match of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, held at Dubai International Stadium.

Bangladesh, batting first, set a target of 229 runs in their allotted 50 overs, losing nine wickets in the process. Despite a spirited effort, Afghanistan was bowled out in the 47th over, managing only 183 runs.

The loss comes after a strong performance by Afghanistan’s Under-19 team in a recent tri-series involving Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, where they emerged as champions in the 50-over format.

Afghanistan will look to regroup and focus on their upcoming matches in the tournament as they aim to secure a spot in the knockout stages.
