TEHRAN — Iranian police have arrested an Afghan national on charges of aerial gunfire, Iranian media reported, citing local officials.
Akbar Mosavi, an Iranian intelligence official, said the individual sparked “fear and panic” among residents in the Yaftabad district of Tehran after allegedly firing a gun into the air. Authorities reported that the suspect fled the scene following the incident.
Iranian officials have not released details about the identity of the suspect. According to Mosavi, the individual was found in possession of a pistol with four bullets, a knife, and brass knuckles.
The suspect has been referred to the court for further proceedings, Mosavi added.
