ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The Pakistani military reported on Saturday that four insurgents were killed in an operation in South Waziristan’s Sarwakai area, part of the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the military’s media wing, the operation targeted suspected militant strongholds, with further offensives underway in the area. Security forces in the region are primarily combating the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group that Islamabad claims receives support from the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah assert that the Pakistani army is targeting civilians, including children during its operations.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban to disarm TTP fighters and hand them over to Pakistani authorities, but the Taliban have consistently denied any TTP presence within Afghanistan’s borders, asserting that the group’s activities are an internal issue for Pakistan to address.
