Fire in Mumbai kills seven, including two children

At least seven members of the same family, including two children, were killed in a fire that broke out in a multi-story building in Mumbai on Sunday, October 6, local police reported.

The fire started in a ground-floor shop of the building, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemraj Singh Rajput.

“The shopkeeper’s family lived on the two floors above the shop. Seven people were killed, while two others who were sleeping in the shop managed to escape,” Rajput said.

Authorities are now working with forensic and fire brigade teams to determine the cause of the fire.
