Iran launches missile strikes on Israel

Iran has launched a series of missile strikes on Israel, according to reports from Iranian media, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions.

Israeli media reported that over 100 missiles were fired toward Israel, though it remains unclear whether the missiles struck targets on the ground or were intercepted in the skies above Israeli cities. The Israeli military confirmed that missiles had been launched from Iran and stated that air raid sirens had sounded across the country.

A spokesman for Israel’s military said there were no reports of injuries so far but warned that the attack was serious and would have consequences. “It is now permitted to leave protected spaces in all areas across the country, following a situational assessment,” the military added.

Alarms were triggered across Israel, and explosions were heard in cities including Jerusalem and along the Jordan River. Reuters journalists observed missiles being intercepted in the airspace over neighboring Jordan, while Israeli army radio reported that nearly 200 missiles had been launched from Iran.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations described the attack as a “legal, rational, and legitimate response” in a social media post. The mission warned that any retaliation by Israel would be met with a “subsequent and crushing response,” advising regional states and Israel’s allies to distance themselves from the “Zionist regime.”

Israelis have been urged to take shelter in bomb shelters amid the barrage, as the situation remains highly fluid and volatile.
