The Afghanistan chess team secured a decisive 4-0 victory against Guyana in the ninth round of the International Chess Olympiad, currently underway in Hungary.
The Olympiad, which began in early September and runs until September 22, has drawn teams from around the world. Afghanistan’s five-member team has so far participated in eight matches, notching four wins against the Cayman Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Dominican Republic, and Guyana.
However, the team has faced setbacks, suffering defeats against New Zealand, Panama, Monaco, and Madagascar.
The tournament continues, with Afghanistan looking to build on its successes in the remaining matches.
