Pakistani delegation travels to Kandahar for talks with Taliban, sources say

A delegation of Pakistani officials traveled to Kandahar on Sunday for discussions with the Taliban concerning border tensions and issues related to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), sources confirmed to Amu.

Details regarding the composition of the delegation remain unclear.

However, sources indicated that the group met with several local Taliban officials during the visit.

The talks come amid ongoing skirmishes between Taliban forces and Pakistani military personnel along the border. In one clash in September, Pakistani media reported that eight Taliban fighters were killed and 16 others wounded.

The Pakistani government has accused the Taliban of harboring TTP militants and enabling their cross-border attacks into Pakistan. The Taliban, however, have denied these allegations, framing the issue as an internal matter for Pakistan.

A recent United Nations monitoring report estimated that approximately 6,500 TTP fighters are currently present in Afghanistan.
