Three members of a family were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Maidan the central province of Wardak, said Yusuf Asrar, a spokesperson for Taliban security command in Maidan Wardak.
According to Taliban officials, the incident occurred when a cargo truck collided with a passenger car in the Sang-e Sia area along the Kabul-Kandahar highway.
The accident adds to a troubling rise in road fatalities across Afghanistan.
According to data compiled by Amu TV, nearly 100 people have died and dozens more have been injured in traffic accidents across the country over the past two months.
Officials from the Taliban-controlled traffic department have attributed many of these accidents to reckless driving and excessive speeding.
