Turkmenistan sends 93 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

Turkmenistan has sent over 93 tons of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, the Taliban-run State Ministry for Disaster Management announced in a statement.

The aid, which entered Afghanistan through the Torghondi port on Wednesday, was handed over to Taliban officials in Herat, according to the ministry.

The shipment includes 15 tons of non-alcoholic beverages, 2,000 cans of children’s nutrition, 5,000 biscuits, 195 tons of fertilizers, 342 tons of oil, and 18 tons of dried fruits, the statement added.

This is not the first time Turkmenistan has provided aid to Afghanistan. In May 2023, the country sent 125 tons of humanitarian assistance.

The latest shipment coincides with the visit of Taliban Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund to Turkmenistan, where he once again inaugurated work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline project.
