Taliban begins revising university natural sciences curriculum amid ban on female students

Despite maintaining a ban on women attending universities, Taliban has announced that its Ministry of Higher Education is revising the curriculum for natural sciences, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Abdul Rauf Farahi, head of curriculum development at the Ministry of Higher Education, told the Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency that “advancements and new global experiences, within the framework of Islamic teachings, have been incorporated into the curriculum for these subjects.”

Farahi added that during a meeting on Monday, Sept. 2, it was decided that university professors from the faculties of Education University, members of the National Curriculum Commission, and technical representatives from related departments would work on the new curriculum over a five-day period.

Since returning to power, the Taliban has prioritized religious education, establishing thousands of new religious schools in the past three years.
