151 migrant families repatriated to Afghanistan from Pakistan, Iran in one day

As the deportation of immigrants continues, 151 migrant families were repatriated to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Saturday, August 31, according to reports from Taliban-run media.

The Bakhtar News Agency reported that 69 families returned from Pakistan, while 82 families came back from Iran.

The report detailed that 31 families deported by Pakistan crossed into Afghanistan via the Torkham border, and 38 families entered through the Spin Boldak crossing.

Meanwhile, 48 families returning from Iran entered the country through the Silk Path in Nimroz, and 34 families returned via Islam Qala in Herat.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) previously reported that more than 683,000 Afghan migrants have returned from Pakistan between September 15, 2023, and July 31 of this year.

Pakistan has intensified its efforts to deport undocumented Afghan nationals following the adoption of a policy in October last year aimed at expelling hundreds of thousands of migrants lacking legal documentation.
