Taliban leader reiterates call for obedience, Sharia implementation

Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, has once again emphasized the implementation of Sharia law and the importance of obedience to his authority during a visit to Badghis province, according to Taliban-controlled media.

During his visit, Akhundzada met with several Taliban officials, underscoring the need for “obedience to the Emir,” a reference to himself, as well as the promotion of Islamic teachings among the youth. This marks the fourth time in the past three months that Akhundzada has called on his followers to maintain unity and adherence to his directives.

In an earlier gathering held on August 1 in Kandahar, Akhundzada addressed senior Taliban leaders, including Abdul Ghani Baradar, Sirajuddin Haqqani, and Yaqoob Mujahid, stressing the importance of resolving internal differences and ensuring complete loyalty to the leadership. The meeting came amid reports of growing rifts within the Taliban’s top ranks.
