Sources confirmed to Amu that a former military officer was shot and killed in an attack by unknown gunmen in the northern province of Faryab on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the first police district of Maimana city, according to the sources.
The victim, identified as Kamil, was reportedly a close aide to Commander Abdul Rahman, a local leader in the province.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
