Traffic accident in Bamiyan kills four people

BAMIYAN, Afghanistan — A traffic accident near Band-e-Amir National Park in Bamiyan province claimed the lives of four people and left six others injured on Saturday, according to a statement from the office of the Taliban governor.

The victims included a woman, two children, and a man. Among the injured were three women, two children, and another man, the statement said.

The incident occurred when a vehicle overturned, which the Taliban attributed to excessive speed and driver negligence. The remote and mountainous terrain of Bamiyan, coupled with poor road conditions, has been the site of numerous traffic accidents in recent years.

Band-e-Amir National Park, Afghanistan’s first national park, is a popular destination known for its stunning lakes and dramatic landscapes. Despite its natural beauty, the region’s roads remain perilous, particularly during the busy summer months when tourism increases.

Taliban has urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly in areas with challenging road conditions.
