KABUL, Afghanistan — The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed Indian coach Ramakrishnan Sridhar as the Assistant Coach of the national team for their upcoming fixtures, which include a one-off Test match against New Zealand and a three-match ODI series against South Africa.
Sridhar, 54, brings extensive experience to the role, having played 35 first-class and 15 List A matches in India’s domestic cricket circuit.
He has also served as India’s national team Fielding Coach in over 300 international matches, including two ICC ODI World Cups and two T20I World Cups. Additionally, he was the Spin Bowling Coach for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League from 2014 to 2017.
A Level-3 certified coach, Sridhar has held multiple coaching roles, including Assistant Coach and Spin Bowling Coach for India’s U19 national team. From 2008 to 2014, he was part of India’s National Cricket Academy, where he served as an assistant fielding and spin bowling coach.
The ACB expressed confidence in Sridhar’s ability to contribute effectively to the team, particularly in the challenging matches ahead. The board also indicated a potential interest in a long-term partnership with the seasoned coach.
