House Committee accuses Biden of turning Afghanistan into a terrorist safe haven

WASHINGTON — Taliban has transformed Afghanistan into a global safe haven for terrorists, according to a statement from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The committee sharply criticized President Biden’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan, holding both him and Vice President Kamala Harris accountable for what it described as a disastrous withdrawal.

In a post on X, the committee stated, “Our Afghan allies are being hunted and killed, and women cannot leave the house without a male escort. Girls cannot get an education above the sixth grade.”

The committee further argued that during periods of U.S. strength, the people of Afghanistan experienced freedom, but are now suffering under what it calls a “terrorist Taliban regime” as a result of the Biden administration’s actions. “President Biden and Vice President Harris robbed them of that hope,” the statement read, adding that the administration has “dishonored decades of sacrifice by our veterans, servicemembers, and Gold Star families.”

Republicans, led by former President Donald Trump, have frequently criticized Biden’s handling of the troop withdrawal as they prepare for the upcoming U.S. election.
