Taliban arrests former police officer in Bamiyan, sources report

Sources in Bamiyan province reported on Tuesday a former member of the Afghan police, who also served as the planning and operations manager for the Taliban’s police command in Bamiyan, was arrested by the Taliban three days ago in the city of Bamiyan.

According to sources, the family of the former soldier has no information about his current whereabouts or condition.

The sources also noted that over the past two weeks, Taliban special forces have set up checkpoints along major roads in Bamiyan city.

Taliban has not yet commented on the arrest.

The United Nations, in its most recent report, documented five extrajudicial killings and seven arbitrary detentions of former military personnel in Afghanistan over the past three months.
